Dollar Tree
i had a dream the other night, i was happy as i could be
didn’t have to work all day, nobody had a hold on me
didn’t need to find a job, no need to make money
didn’t have a care in the world, ‘cause i had a dollar tree
dollar tree, dollar tree
every day i’d pick up a handful of bills and i’d had on into town
anywhere the fun was needed’s where i’d lay my money down
when i was feeling lonesome, like nobody cared for me
i could buy all the friends i wanted with the money from the dollar tree
dollar tree, dollar tree
i had all the finer things, a big house and a cadillac
every time i needed m ore, i’d just take a little walk out back
i went to all the parties, seems i had a thousand friend
‘cause i nad that dollar tree they’d always let me in
dollar tree, dollar tree
well autumn came and the money went and the good times were all gone
i settled in for the winter feeling cold and all alone
they all turned me down then when i needed the company
“say, what happened to your money, friend, what happened to the dollar tree?”
dollar tree, dollar tree
when i got to thinkin’ about where i had gone wrong
my shallowness and all the changed i had undergone
i knew then that there only was one thing to set me free
i went out at night in the cold and the wind and chopped down the dollar tree
dollar tree dollar tree
