River of Love

we’re gathered here to tell you of the love you have in store
this water, like all symbols, stands for ever so much more
in every little village when a new one has arrived,
an anointing there along the riverside

it’s a river of love, though the water always moves
a river of love, you’re never far removed from the
river of love, your feet are planted firm by
the river of love, the river of love

there’s no way for you to understand the things we do today
a memory can’t photograph the promises we say
only our hearts’ expression as we kneel to pray
and cast our hope along the riverside

it’s a river of hope, running through us all
a river of hope, to keep you climbing when you fall
a river of hope, it’s the best that we can do
a river of hope, a river of hope

though your life will take you down a thousand different ways
a spirit now will be there the remainder of your days
so welcome to the family, we’re glad that you’ve arrived
we celebrate you here on the riverside

it’s a river of life, everywhere you see
a river of life, to live means more than just to be
a river of life, there’s a reason why you’re here
