Sell Out

I don’t write pop music, I never had one pop song
most of my thoughts are more than three minutes long
I think I’ll have to sell out, I guess It couldn’t be wrong
to write pop music, maybe have a couple of pop songs

i could write how much I love, and never let you go
crap like “we could always be together” to let the royalties grow
I could sing like michael bolton when I make that video
kids could use it as a prom theme, you never know

or i could really let some angst show; i’ve been working on my pout
and how i really am this angry how my life turned out
and how i hate being a pop star, with all my money and clout
i’ve got a lot of anger. I’ve got to let it out

couldn’t you hear me on the radio, my mom would be so proud
between madonna and the spice girls. ma could crank it up loud
but if you hate me in the morning, then hey, get offa my cloud
i’m writing pop music and i make my mother proud

I don’t write pop music, I never had one pop song
most of my thoughts are more than three minutes long
I think I’ll have to sell out, I guess It couldn’t be wrong
to write pop music, maybe have a couple of pop songs
